Set reminders you will not start ignoring
Guide · 2 minutes
A reminder that arrives at the wrong moment gets swiped away, and after a week of that the app is muted for good. The settings below are the ones worth spending a minute on.
How many a day
Settings → Reminders. Ten a day sounds like a lot and works for most people, because each one is a single sentence and carries its own words. If you find yourself dismissing them without reading, three or four is a better habit than ten you ignore.
Between which hours
Set the window to your waking day — the default is 09:00 to 22:00. Reminders spread evenly across it with a few minutes of drift, so they never arrive at the same minute every day.
The evening reflection
Separately, you can turn on one invitation a day to write a few sentences about how the day went. It is off until you ask for it, and tapping it opens straight into today's entry.
Why the words are already there
Each reminder is scheduled on your iPhone with its affirmation already inside it. Nothing is sent from a server, so they arrive with no signal and nobody learns when you read one. Opening Here every few days tops the queue up; leave it a fortnight and you will see gentler generic reminders instead, which is the app's way of not going silent.
If nothing arrives
Check iPhone Settings → Notifications → Here is allowed. Focus modes and Sleep will hold reminders back too, which is usually what you want.
