Write your own affirmations
Guide · 3 minutes
The lines that work best are usually the ones you wrote yourself, because they answer something you actually think. Here keeps them in the same feed as ours.
Adding one
Settings → My affirmations → +. Type the line and save. Leave “Show in my feed” on and it appears between the others as you swipe.
What makes a line land
- Say it, do not instruct it. “Breathe out” is a task. “I can put down what I have been holding” is something you can say to yourself.
- Present tense. “I am learning this” beats “I will be good at this one day”, which quietly agrees you are not yet.
- Believable beats impressive. If “I am confident” makes you flinch, “I have done harder things than this meeting” will not.
- Specific, and yours. Name the real thing — the inbox, the stairs, the phone call you keep not making.
- Short. If it does not fit on a Lock Screen, it is a note, not an affirmation.
Answer your own commentary
Write down the sentence you say to yourself on a bad day, then write the reply you would give a friend who said it out loud. The reply is the affirmation.
Keeping them
Your lines can be favourited, collected and shared like any other. They live on your iPhone — they are never uploaded, and they are never used as anyone else's content.
